Eight years ago today: A Legend was Born. Winston Jordan and I had joined creative forces during the Christmas holidays back in 2017 and threw together our ideas after Terance Baker approached us with a dream: To find a way to promote Independent Comic Artists everywhere.
And around the world we went. From comic shops all over Florida to a short stint with Diamond Comics Distributors: At first I was heartbroken that we couldn’t fund our Kickstarter to make ICC Magazine available to comic shops all over the US. But then during Covid-19 and after, Diamond filed for bankruptcy and we realized we’d dodged a bullet. We enjoyed a Golden Age for awhile there; the stories, the creativity flowed like magic, and Bill McSciFi was the one to suggest changing my original tagline “Exploring the Infinite Universe of Independent Comics! Independent Creators Connection is your creative nexus!” to a BOLD proclamation: “ICC Magazine: WHERE LEGENDS ARE BORN.”
Terance Baker and I were in talks this week (May 19, 2026) to discuss the future of ICC Magazine and the ICC website after a rough two-year hiatus and the departure of our entire creative team. Terance wonders if we should close down Independent Creators Connection, write off our losses and fold.
But I wonder…..
We have given many invitations for creators to post their books and series for sale on our website and share them. Our only chance at survival as Independent Comics Creators is to co-promote and share so readers can discover new stories. Not just YOUR books. Each other’s books. And you know it. If you want your books on the ICC Magazine website, it is paid through 2027.
